18th Century Walnut Norfolk Chest of Drawers W458 Chest Drawers Norfolk %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A rare 18th century walnut chest of drawers in the Norfolk style, tall and narrow. The decorative nature of walnut is exemplified in the beautiful figured veneers on the top, where 4 slices of the same piece of wood are placed together to create a mirrored pattern, known as quartering.
Fine line inlays define the top and the drawers. A small central cupboard is a useful feature.
The front corners are canted/angled and reeded, and the tall feet continue the angled shaping. With original engraved brass handles, this lovely proportioned chest is in superb condition throughout, a treasure from this wonderful walnut period that has been loved and cared for. Circa 1740
