2 x Victorian Silver Heart Dishes, Wm Hutton, 1895

This is an attractive Pair of Victorian Sterling Silver Trinket Dishes. The dishes are heart shaped with pierced sides decorated with scrolls and flowers. They sit on three pierced and flower decorated feet. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The dishes were made in Sheffield by renowned silversmiths William Hutton & Sons Ltd and date to 1895. William Hutton established the firm in Birmingham in 1800 but in 1832 he transferred the entire company to Sheffield. Several generations of the Hutton family followed in the business and additional manufacturing was set up in London and back in Birmingham as well as a showroom in London’s Holborn district. The firm got into difficulty in the late 1920s, as so many did, and was taken over by James Dixon & Sons in 1930.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the pierced sections and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after over 125 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each dish is 9.8cm / 3.8ins from top to bottom, 8.8cm / 3.4ins across and stands 2.3cm / 0.9ins high. The pair together weigh in at a very respectable 73.7g / 2.6oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the left hand side rim of each dish, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter c for 1895 and the distinctive W H & Ss Ld makers' mark for William Hutton & Sons Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £12.00 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the dishes.
