Embroidery French Battle Scene 19th Century %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a good 19th century woolwork embroidery picture depicting a French battle scene during the Napoleonic wars with an officer holding the Tricolor and advancing into a town across a fortified bridge.

The tapestry is in excellent condition retaining good strength of colour and is embroidered with fine detail.

This is in what appears to be its original gilt frame with a sponge effect gilt mount.

Provenance: From the residual contents of Scorborough Lodge from the Estate of Stephen Thornley-Wilson.

The embroidery measures 45 cms by 40 cms overall including the frame.
