This is a large gilded gesso overmantel mirror which dates from around 1870. The imposing mirror has gesso leaf mounts and attractive porcelain feet. The gilding is all original and is nicely rubbed in places revealing the soft red oxide beneath. The mirror glass is the original bevelled Victorian 3/8" plate glass which is in really good, clean condition save for some minor spotting.
The overmantel mirror has good proportions measuring 130 cms high by 126 cms wide.
A really nice original example.
