This is a good quality Victorian period frame with a good gilt finish in excellent order. The deep frame dates from around 1860 and measures 56.5 cms wide by 46 cms overall. The aperture is 34.5 by 24 cms and the opening at the back to receive the painting is 36 cms by 26 cms. It is possible to remove the slip to facilitate a frame with and aperture of 38 cms by 28 cms and the opening at the back to receive the picture becomes 40 cms by 30 cms.
