Description

Splendid mid 19th.c. toleware coal c.1870. Useful tall narrow shape with curved front and flat back, it would make a great holder for all the sticks, paper, fire lighters etc. needed to get a good fire going. Black painted finish with original hand painted detail. The lid features a scene of a castle in a landscape surrounded by a border of leaves which is repeated on the base. With a large ornamental cast iron handle to the front and two plain handles to the rear. Good condition though unfortunately the liner is damaged.
