Description

Exceptional mid 19th.c. white marble mantle clock c.1870. The very handsome and restrained white marble case is rare, these clocks are more frequently found in black marble or slate and are often heavily adorned with gilt mounts. Fluted drum top flanked with scrolling forms on a tall moulded plinth with turned feet. Five inch diameter enamel face with fine black numerals on a raised chapter ring around an open escapement movement with ruby escapement pallets. Original steel hands, bezel and glass. Eight day works with pendulum, striking the hours and half hour on a bell. Excellent condition, the works have been cleaned and overhauled and are sold with a 12 month guarantee.
