Description

Splendid Regency era portico mantle clock c.1830. Fabulous alabaster case, very nearly 2 feet tall, based on the forms of Classical Roman architecture with a heavy portico supported on four large Tuscan columns. With carved and applied detail to the portico and plinth in the form of flower heads. Raised on low turned feet. Fine 6″ clock dial with original hands, enamelled chapter ring and beautifully crisp chased surround with anthemion pattern detail. Eight day brass works striking the hours and half hour on a bell, with the original compensated gridiron pendulum. Some minor damage to the alabaster, otherwise very good condition. Works are sold with a 12 month guarantee.
