Description

Early 20th.c. French bust of a gentleman dated 1911. Shoulder length bust of a smart looking gent with a distinctive moustache and goatee. Beautifully modelled in terracotta with good surface texture and pale painted finish through which in places can be seen the pink of the clay. Mounted on a wooden base. Neither artist or subject are identified beyond the inscription ‘a son patron et ami’ (to his patron and friend) to be found on the right hand side of the plinth together with the date 1911. Very good condition with only minor wear.
