Description

18th.c. Spanish leather travelling chest c.1740. Shallow domed top opening to reveal storage inside with a crimson velvet lining. Unusually this chest also features a single cupboard door in the right hand side of front and a slim drawer low down to the left. Original leather covering with beautiful decorative stud work across the top, front and sides. Note the repeated heart motifs on the front. Original lockplate, hinges and large carry handles at the sides. Retaining the original large carved claw feet in oak front and rear. Some obvious old wear and repairs (the leather to the drawer front and above the door would appear to be replacement). Generally very good condition. Particularly good colour and patina to the leather on the top. Solid and sturdy with working locks throughout and keys supplied.
