Description

Splendid pair of cast iron fireside companions c.1930 modelled as the famous household cavalry guardsmen with their distinctive horsehair plumed helmets and swords. The plumes actually form the handle of a 26" long iron poker with a pointed end which drawers out from the top of each figure. Cast in iron and finished with a lustre enamel glaze with iridescent finish. On hexagonal bases. Stamped Made in England and with a registered design number on the rear. Presented as found in good condition. Would also make good door stops.
