Description

Large and impressive Moorish style overmatle mirror c.1960. 41" x 62" mirror plate within a distinctive Moorish arch shaped surround with scalloped edge and turned half columns on the inner edge of the lower portion of the arch. Surrounded by intricate mashrabiya panels made of hundreds of tiny turned hardwood elements, also with mirror glass behind. Moulded cornice with carved arch detail and a carved frieze at the centre of which is an inscription in Islamic script inlaid into an ebony ground. Carved detail to the uprights at either side and a moulded plinth. Some marks to the silvering on the mirror, otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
