1830 Thomas Fell Co. Joseph & Father Child's Plate

Description
#AD071:Joseph and his brothers and the story of the coat of many colours is in the Old Testament. It's also a very important biblical scene for children on early motto, and religious themed moral pottery. This 1830's original antique pearlware religious kid's plate is called "Sacred History of Joseph and his Brethren" with a very intricate transferware scene of "Jospeh introducing his Father and Five Brethren unto Pharaoh". Interestingly, Pharoah is spelled (or mispelled) as Pharaoh.
Often these wares are listed as made in Staffordshire, England, but the Thomas Fell Co. and their Saint Peters Factory was based north in Newcastle, Northumberland from 1817–1890.
The plate has a thickly embossed rose and stem flower rim, a very slight scallop edge and measures 6.5 inches in diameter. Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is a tiny little speck of yellow from the original firing that is in the center scene at the 2 o'clock postiion. It must be scrutinized extremely closely to see. Most of these child pieces are unmarked, although occasionally you will find the Fell mark, which is a small embossed anchor found on some from this series. This one is unmarked.
According to the TCC, Transferware Collector's Club Database there were 12 children's plates in this Thomas Fell series called "Sacred History of Joseph and his Brethren". They are, as follows:
1. Joseph's First Dream
2. Joseph's Second Dream
3. Reuben interceding with his Brethren for the Life of Joseph
4. Joseph sold by his Brethren to the Ishmeelites
5. Portiphar's Wife falsely accusing Joseph
6. Joseph interpreting the Dreams of Pharoahs Chief Butler and Baker
7. Joseph interpreting Pharoahs Dreams
8. Josephs Brethren Applying to him for Corn in the time of Famine
9. Judah resigning himself and his Brethren into the hands of Joseph
10. Joseph making himself known to his Brethren
11. Joseph meeting with Jacob his Father
12. Joseph introducing his Father and five Brethren unto Pharaoh
This early 19th century old religious piece was found in Newton Abbot, Devon, England. We also have an other plate from this series, #11, "Joseph meeting with Jacob his Father" found together, find it here. Click images to see condition in close up views.
