Description

For sale is a high quality grandfather clock which we believe to be circa 1780, made by James Bennitt of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. We recently purchased this clock from a local family who have now emigrated, we understand they originally lived in Staffordshire and it had been in their family for many generations. The clock appears to be in good working condition with original weights & pendulum. The base has at one time been restored as the plynth would have originally stood on a flat stone floor and consequently would have suffered some dampness at the base. Otherwise the case has a very nice pattination and is in a very nice condition. It has an eight day four pillar movement and strikes on the bell. The clock lacks only the calendar hand which can be easily replaced. The clock has been running in our showroom for 10 days and keeps good time.
