A Beautiful Double fusee English Skeleton Clock by Russell of Liverpool c1870
The mercurial gilt frame depicting an ecclesiastical style along with trefoil details to the pinnacles. The wellmade movement with thick brass plates and five spoke wheels demonstrates the quality of these Victorian clocks and along with the stylish rack striking mechanism is a pleasure to observe from under its original, undamaged glass dome.
These striking English skeleton clocks are quite rare due to there original high purchase price and should not be confuse with the more numerous “passing strike” single fusee models.
This clock has been totally dismantled down to its last screw and has been polished using chalk. Although very labour intensive, this method gives a finish that simply cannot be replicated using modern cutting compounds. The movement has been overhauled and repaired where needed and now comes with a full three year guarantee for your peace of mind.
