A Rare Matt Gilt Striking Carriage with Push Repeat Clock by Soldano c1870.
The stunning Matt Gilt case is most unusual and demonstrates the unique features Soldano put into his creations. This clock has two name stamps on it, one on the gong that is the letter G.B in a square and J.S in an oval on the main clock plate. with a little bit of research I have found that the make is probably Soldano. He won a bronze medal in the Paris exhibition of 1855 and 1878 for his substantial growth in the art of case decoration. This is certainly evident in the design of this case.
The trademark engine turned silvered dial with perfect white porcelain dial has been made to the highest of standards.
The push repeating, striking movement with its original silvered platform escapement have been fully overhauled and has been polished using chalk. Although labour intensive, this method produces a finish that simply cannot be replicated using modern cutting compounds. This clock comes with a full three year guarantee.
