A Stunning Georgian Flame Mahogany and Brass Inlay Bracket Clock by Paul Lacey of Bristol c1790
Having succeeded Charles Horwood 1762-d1787, Paul lacey of Bristol 1787 - 1830 was an important Bristol maker in his day. The quality of his clocks clearly demonstrate the training the received and is the highest of standards
the beautifully made flame mahogany case with fine brass inlay is of the London standard and may well have been made there. the fine engraved backplate movement with engraved bob has been fully overhauled in our in-house worksop.
A good early 19th century brass inlaid mahogany-cased eight-day bracket clock the figured domed top above an eight-inch cream dial with Roman numerals and signed 'P. Lacey - Bristol', flanked by two ring carrying handles above arched gilt-metal fish-scale-style sound apertures, the fine gilded twin fusee movement striking on a bell and with dogtooth and foliate engraving, with original pendulum, raised on four gilt metal ball-style feet, the front two feet with moulded decoration (42cm high x 30cm wide including handles x 17cm deep including convex glass)
