Description

Bronze musical handbell by Henry Symondson. The Symondson's were a famous British Bell Founding Family. Bell is initialled H S. Henry would have made this in London in the early 19th century. It was fully restored and tuned in the last 20 years by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry. Including the English Oak turned stand to display it on. It bears the name B. Jennings. Trevor Jennings is well known in Bell Ringing circles. He was the curator of Taylors museum and has written books about handbells and founding. It is likely that B. Jennings is an ancestor of Trevor's.
All the leather and clanger has been replaced. C note.
Condition is fabulous.
Beautiful sonorous tone.
