Description

An Edwardian Sheraton style Carlton House desk (c.1910) with a nicely curved back allowing the desk to be positioned anywhere in the room. Sometimes referred to as a Ladies Writing Desk, made from beautiful flame mahogany and comprising decorative cross-banding and satinwood inlay, raised on tapering square legs with spade feet below a frieze of three good-sized drawers (two plus a larger central drawer) all with circular brass handles. The top section features the original green tooled leather writing surface (excellent vintage with no tears or faults) surrounded by three locking cupboards (with key) – two curved-door cupboards at each corner and a central cupboard flanked by a pair of triple-sectioned pigeon holes both above two small drawers. The two sloping side buttresses terminate in a further pair of small drawers.
