Description

A very unusual and well proportioned French 19th century Empire period console table in burr walnut with brass mounts and a marble top, with an element of the Biedermeier style to it, circa 1830.
Very smart piece and with the broad supporting ends this console table has real presence, but being in burr walnut and a natural colour tone, has a lightness to it too.
The brasses are all in good condition and all original to the piece, classical figures with a little ebonised banding to the centre of the frieze and Griffins to the base of the legs. Finished with the simple white marble top which is a perfect contrast to the warm glow of the burr walnut.
There is no drawer to this console table, much as you would often find one in the frieze, this is a fixed panel.
Great piece for a hall console table, but is so fabulous, it will work in all manor of locations and the size it is will sit well with a good size mirror and lamps.
