Description

This is an outstandingly good quality French 19th century Napoleon III boulle work and brass marquetry inlaid freestanding serpentine bureau plat writing table with its original leather with gilt tooled edging, circa 1870.
A very decorative piece and also of a sensible size for actually using as a home office desk, often these are a little smaller but this piece does give you good working space and a useful drawer space below too.
This table will work very well as a freestanding centre table or console table, but also as a sofa table or dressing table too.
The condition is really very good, some previous restoration to small areas of the brass inlay and as you can see, the original leather is marked with use and age which I rather like, but can of course be replaced if you would prefer a new piece of leather.
Wonderful piece of decorative French furniture and of exceptional quality. The gilt brass throughout the table is very crisp and those fabulous legs with the mounts give the table an elegance for a substantial piece.
