Description

Very unusual and stunningly beautiful French early 19th century secretaire marble top commode in burr elm, circa 1800 and in lovely condition.
Wonderful colour and finish to the burr elm, also note the sides are also burr walnut rather than straight grain elm and not forgetting the incredible marble top.
The cut of marble is most unusual, having colour changes throughout which work so well with the warmth of burr walnut.
The drawers all run well and provide good storage, but being such a decorative and impressive piece, this will work in a prominent position as well as being used for bedroom storage.
The secretaire has four small drawers and a central pigeon hole, a vintage leather inset for your writing surface. Some lovely age and use marks to this interior which I have left as they are.
The secretaire drawer has a working lock and key, below the three drawers are pulled by the key, but if you would rather have some period handles or drawer knobs fitting please let me know.
There is a further drawer hidden in the plinth too.
Measuring:
37 inches or 94 cm high
43 1/2 inches or 110.5 cm wide
20 1/2 inches or 52 cm depth
29 inches or 73.5 cm writing surface height
28 inches or 71 cm kneehole height
