Description

This is an unusual and large c19th late Georgian coffee table with 3 generous drawers and a galleried top.
Perhaps it was used as a gaming table previously, or perhaps one end was used for display as there is a hinged section to the top with rather lovely supports below.
The base and drawers of the table are all in mahogany, well turned legs and all four original brass castors. The top is in a softwood, as is the gallery which is fitted with lovely round head brass screws.
Certainly a very useful piece as a coffee table and with the marks to the gallery top edge, I feel likely it was some sort of gaming table...at a guess!
The rear of the table is plain polished mahogany, so it can free stand as a typical coffee table.

59.5cm or 23 1/3” to top of the gallery
186cm or 73” long
63cm or 24 3/4” wide
