Description

Very beautiful c19th English ebonised four folding screen with its original printed silk panels.
Super quality frame which has been cleaned and polished up, also the lovely brass hinge mechanism has been cleaned and polished as they're such a nice feature.
The original silk panels I have placed the best four to this facing side, although there are some areas of damage, but the silk is beautifully faded with age, so I would personally keep it. The rear of the panel is fully finished with the ebonising and gilt, but the more damaged silk panels are there too.
You may prefer to remove all the old silk and fit new fabric which is a very simple task for an upholsterer.
Often I find these screens actually work very well as large, decorative wall hangings, rather than as their intended use as room dividing screens.
The measurements below are per panel, so as a hung on a wall as a flat panel, you can see the size is quite impressive.
Measuring:
68” or 173cm high
22 3/4” or 58cm each panel width
