Georgian Oak Chest With Slate Top

Description

This is a stripped back Georgian oak and mahogany banded chest of drawers with a slate top, circa 1800.
Good decorative piece and with the three long drawers, gives good storage too.
I have fitted the slate top to the chest as this would originally have been the bottom half of a "chest on chest" so there is just an unfinished surface below the slate.
The condition is good and there are just the usual age signs to the chest, the only part I would point out is an old wound just above the lock on the bottom drawer where it seems perhaps the key was lost and someone has had to force their way in! Not a big deal and not really noticeable, but pointing it out to you.
The dark slate top works really well and contrasts with the pale oak ( the slate just lifts off the chest for moving, but is heavy so it won't slide if knocked ).
