Description

A beautiful carved wood, gilt and gesso screen dating from c. 1830 and retaining its three original bevelled glass windows and with lovely fitted silk panels to back and front in a dark gold and black stripe - a recent replacement for the original silk which was faded and in tatters and of a similar design.

Each circular window is framed with gilded laurel and leaf raised decoration and with beautifu beaded and moulded borders. Minor wear but looking exactly as it should and retaining the original brass hinges in excellent working order.

The screen opens properly and sits firm and level - a very handsome example.

Dimensions are:

58 inches high and 48 inches wide when unfolded (to the maximum stretch, without toppling over).

Each leaf is 18.5 inches wide.

For metric please multiply by 2.5

I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
