Description

A superb, handsome and high quality mid-18th Century walnut bureau with oak lined drawers and a most attractive fitted interior. The top, fall and drawer fronts set with bookmatched burr walnut panels of excellent colour and deep patination, the interior of the fall and inner drawers, door and pigeon holes in beautiful burr walnut veeneers. The fall and drawer fronts strung with boxwood and crossbanded in walnut, the sides deeply crossbanded also.

Exemplary colour and deep natural patination and rare to find a piece with such extensive beautiful burr veneers. From a private estate and with excellent provenance which will be provided to the purchaser.

Some repairs and small restorations consistent with age and use. Brasses are later, locks are present and appear original. There is a working key to the inner door. Original oak drawer linings and original backboards.

A very impressive piece of George II English furniture, beautifully made and reflecting the height of fashion and fine taste in the mid Georgian period.
