Description

A fine quality George III solid mahogany tea table in excellent original condition.

The drawer with original and finely cast brass handle and with oak dovetailed linings. The spandrels intricately carved in an unusually complex form.

This is a beautiful 18th century side table with a very good colour, practical, usable and extremely robust. The top opens out over a solid gate leg to provide a larger table when needed. You can assess the quality of both the timber and the maker by the fact that the timber has not warped or split or moved at all over more than 250 years of use and it is rare for such a table to have also retained its original handle and solid brass hinges. Well cared for all of its life.

A good city made solid mahogany tea table. Completely level, sturdy and usable, of great proportion and form, with consistent well developed colour... really beautiful.
