Description

A good quality English oak stool in the George II manner, hand carved and tooled, and retaining its original faux finish of walnut veneers.

Beautifully detailed carving to the border around the drop in seat. The stool has been newly upholstered in a top quality Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company tapestry fabric which retails at nearly £200 per meter.

The whole raised on cabriole legs, carved at knees with scallop shells and drop bell husks and terminating in ball and claw feet.

Lovely colour and condition, very solid and usable with no loose joints. A most attractive and usable stool made by hand approximately 150 years ago but designed to appear a much earlier stool c. 1735.

In excellent condition for age with only some small knocks and depletions consistent with careful use.
