Description

A very large and heavy 19th century pitch pine chest which has been beautifully painted with an oval cartouche showing a clipper at full sail and with the name Captain T. Bly. Each panel painted with the Royal Navy initials and the front painted with the date 1841 and Plymouth.

Original metal strapwork hinges and original turn hooks secure the top. Good original and substantial ribbed cup handles to each side.

This is a heavy and robust chest with a good clean interior. The paintwork is in excellent original condition throughout.
