Description

A very good George II lowboy with fabulously shaped solid walnut cabriole legs each with large hand carved and reeded scrolls at hips over rolled pad feet. The three drawers retain their original and very slim boarded oak linings with beautifully crafted small dovetails and original brass handles. The whole with thickly cut and vividly grained walnut veneers and with a well shaped apron and shaped side panels – all higher quality details. The walnut to the top is quarter matched with oysters at the centre of each panel and a deep featherbanded border. The outer edge set with a lovely cushioned and curved walnut border.

In fine original condition, solid and sturdy, heavy for size, and with a very good colour and natural patination – unfortunately our photographs do not do the piece full justice and the lowboy is guaranteed to exceed expectations.

A beautifully made and finely shaped little lowboy of great charm.
