Description

This chair has just arrived in the showroom from a local Sussex farmhouse and is in excellent well cared for and solid condition with a good rushed seat and solid ash frame.

The chair has the hallmarks of an early Morris & Co., chair with three elongated and finely turned stretchers to the front and sides, the front legs with turned feet and ring turning at the hips, and with squared terminals where the front legs meet the seat rails. The back legs united by a double stretcher. The ladder back with a lovely curved top rail and the whole chair of lovely proportion and balance.

All very solid without weak or loose joints, the well rushed seat in excellent condition also.

A good and completely usable handmade country side chair of great charm and dating from c. 1880.
