George III Wing Back Armchair c.1780

Description
A beautiful George III wing back armchair, the frame made in solid Goncalo Alves, a richly figured wood similar to rosewood with dark flashes in the grain. A most expensive and exotic hardwood imported from Brazil and the Americas during the 1700s, it was rarely used in the solid and would have been a very expensive choice for the show frame of this chair. The frame complete and original with no breaks, repairs or loose joints. In excellent original condition and purchased from a private estate.
This superb quality chair has been newly and professionally upholstered in a stunning top quality (£280 per meter) Italian silk damask with a mellow old gold colour.
The chair is exceptionally comfortable with a good width and depth to the well padded seat, lovely scrolled arms and a supportive gently raked back. Georgian chairs were often made bespoke to fit the owner, tailored as a suit would be so that seat height, width and length of back would all be measured and made accordingly. Designed to be comfortable and made to withstand the tests of time, this beautiful chair has survived in excellent condition and is strongly recommended.
Dimensions are:
Width is 32 inches, depth is 32 inches and height is 43.5 inches.
The seat is 17 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 18 inches from the floor.
For metric please multiply by 2.5
I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
