19th Century Balkans Carved Wooden Distaff

Description
This is a scarce and unusual item. The distaff would be used for spinning wool. This distaff dates to the early 19th Century and was most likely made in one of the Balkan states. It is carved out of a single piece of wood and the paddle shaped head and neck are nicely carved. The original decorative material on the paddle is also intact. It stands 96.3cm tall and has a maximum width of 10.8cm.If you have any questions. Please get in touch.
