On offer is this delightful Victorian Aesthetic silver and hand painted enamel brooch.Apple blossom and forget-me-not – the flowers in the centre of the brooch – were symbols of good fortune/promise and true love in Victorian times. So this brooch probably delivered the promise of true love to a special lady when she received it as a gift.
The brooch has lovely engraved details and bead decoration in the Aesthetic style.
It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham and year ‘1888’. The maker is William C. Manton.
Largest measurement 3.5 x 2.7 cm
