Description

This is a rare and exquisite early 19th century blue and white enamel brooch in gold, set with a garnet cabochon gemstone.

The design is amazing: the brooch is in the shape of an eye with beautiful enamel decoration throughout.
There are 2 blue enamel hearts at the top and bottom, each with a white fleur-de-lys in the middle.

But the best is yet to come: that stunning garnet cabochon stone in the middle with its rich red colour hiding a secret locket compartment, similar to poison rings!
I was thrilled to discover that the stone can be removed!

The reverse of the brooch has a non-original old type safety pin soldered to it.
I can't help thinking just how fantastic this piece would look converted to a ring, although I'm not sure if the pin can be safely removed.
Nevertheless, it's beautiful as it is.

Measurements: The brooch is just a bit over 3 x 2 cm, with the garnet measuring 1 x 0.8 cm.
Total weight: 4.3 grams

The brooch is offered with FREE UK shipping and I will consider posting it internationally to selected destinations.
