Description

A beautiful sampler blanket or quilt that was made by Mary Rose in 1904, the centre of the blanket has the first verse of the poem "Sleep Softley" which reads

Sleep sweetly, in this quiet room
O’ thou whoe’er thou art
And let no mournful yesterday
Disturb thy peaceful heart.
Sewn by Mary Rose 1904 AET 84

To each corner is a beautiful embroidered flower head. The photos sadly don't do this amazing item justice, despite many attempts at taking them. As you can imagine the item does have some color fading to the blue part of the blanket, and a few stitches have come away, but there is no moth holes or damage. The item measures 44 cm by 36 cm.
