Antique Needlework Sampler 1834 by Catherine Ann Ecclestone from Upton Norfolk

A traditional 19th century band sampler worked with different styles of alphabets with a different border or stitch type between them. in addition we have repeated letters A-Z. And a wonderful poem which reads. The Modest snow drop emblem of fair truth, Conveys this lesson to the thoughtless youth. That unasuming worth will ever find, A warm receptionin a generous mind. At the end of the last band the stitcher has finished with her name: Catherine Ann Ecclestone. Upton. Norfolk 1834.

The sampler measures 29.5 cm high and 27 cm wide. It still has its original backing board, but is unframed. Please study the photos for condition.
