Description

A splendid Scottish Masonic Longcase clock by John Pinkerton of Haddington East Lothian. Mahogany case with 8 day movement, we believe this clock was made for a masonic lodge in Edinburgh. The gentleman we bought it from who was in his 90's had owned the clock for 54 years. HIs father had been the previous owner and both were Masons. The clock had not been running for some considerable time so the movement required a complete re build and replacment of some parts we also completely re polished the case in our own workshop. The face was already in perfect condition, you will note all the masonic symbols on the face. The lower door still has its original lock and key. The clock is in perfect condition and after carrying out all the work to it I felt I wanted to own it myself for a while and have the pleasure of it, so now after 2 years of enjoyment I have decided to let it go. The price includes delivery and set up within a 50 mile radius of our shop. If your location is further away please contact us for a quotation.
John Pinkerton listed as working between 1805 and 1840 he is also listed in the 1841 census as living in the high street Haddington aged 55 and married with 6 children. We think the date of theis clock is around 1820
