Early Eighteenth Century Burr Elm Chest Of Drawers

Photos

Description

A chest of drawers in burr elm / figured elm with walnut details, from the first half of the eighteenth century.
Of fabulous warm colour and rich patina, with herring bone banding to the drawer edges and double beaded moulded surrounds to the carcass.
The bracket feet are of three continuous timbers (front and two sides) and are old but probably not original since we suspect that this chest would originally have been on a low stand.
Handles not original but are appropriate and of good quality.
Historic wood worm damage (not active) as usual for an elm or walnut piece of this age.
DateGeorge II Dimensions36 inches high, 36 inches wide, 20 3/4 inches deep ConditionVery good and sound.
