19th century Mercury glass candlestick.

Description
An odd way of appearing to have silver items around the house, even drinking glasses were made in this manner. A hollow moulded shape with a hole in the base was then silvered and after, the hole in the base was sealed usually with a cork. This candlestick lost its seal, whatever it was, some time ago and the hole taped over. The silvering is still in pretty good order with on only a couple of very small losses.DateMid 19th Century :
