Description

A lovely pair of bright cut nips with acorn grip. As is often the case a bit light on marks, no monarch's head and assay mark, usually with English silver tending towards a London piece. The makers mark I dot L registered to John Lambe between 1786 and 1804 but he was active with other marks from 1764. The bright cut decoration is very much a late eighteenth century fashion but died out pretty well by 1800. Strangely both arms have been cut and repaired almost unnoticeably about an inch and a half from the tip of the acorns.
