1779 Maritime Engraving Scarborough Bay & Castle

An attractive framed maritime engraving of Scarborough Bay, Town & Castle.
Entitled "Prospect of the Borough and Ruins of the Castle of Scarborough in Yorkshire" .... "Engraved for the Modern Universal British Traveller".
The engraving is well over 200 years old dating to 1779, mounted within a modern mount in a substantial gold painted glazed wooden frame. Condition is very good commensurate with age, with only very minor evidence of 1 or 2 foxing spots.
The scene includes sailing vessels in Scarborough Bay, horse-drawn bathing machines, the town of Scarborough much smaller than today, and in the background a still relatively intact Scarborough Castle atop the cliffs.
