'The History Of The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire' by Edward Gibbon, printed for A. Strahan and T. Cadell, 1788-1790. The set is complete in 12 volumes.

All boards are later three-quarter bound in tan calf leather with red marbled boards, red leather title panels and black leather volume panels both gilt stamped. Light shelf wear is evident to the extremities of all volumes. Volume I has some water marking to the front board (please see photographs). Frontispiece to Volume I. Ink inscription to the front flyleaf of Volume I and shorter ink inscription by the same hand to the front endpapers of other volumes as shown. All volumes are internally clean and bright.
