17th.c. oak six plank chest or coffer c.1600. Very sturdily constructed from six 1¼” thick solid oak boards, easily strong enough to sit on and use as a box stool or window seat. Good early look with the decoration restricted to a simple moulded detail and scalloped edge. Iron strap hinges with attractive pointed spade shades ends. Excellent colour and condition with some earlier restorations (the left hand board appears to be a replacement). Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
