An extremely nice 18CT Gold, Swiss Made, Fob Pocket Watch by C Mathey, dating from c1886.
The watch has a lovely decorative, 18CT solid gold English made case. It is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "MS", the London town mark, "18" and "crown" for 18 carat gold and date letter "L" for 1886/87. It has very nice, good quality, engraved decoration and a central cartouche to the rear that is free of initials.
The dial has the hours in Arabic numerals with decoaration to the outer chapter and centre.
The Swiss made movement is signed by the maker. It is relatively unusual to have this type of movement signed.
