18CT Gold Pocket Watch, IWC for Stauffer & Co,

A very good quality, Gentleman's, Antique 18CT Gold Pocket Watch, in excellent condition and in working order.
This watch was made by the highly regarded International Watch Company (IWC) for Stauffer & Co.
The watch would have originally been retailed by the London branch of Stauffer & Co. The watch case has the importers sponsors mark "CN" for Charles Nicolet, trading as Stauffer, Son & Co, watch importers & manufacturers, Charterhouse Street, Holborn, London. The company of Stauffer, Son & Co was founded in 1830 and had a factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. They had a subsidiary company Stauffer & Co (S&Co) in London that distributed watches to the British market. Charles Nicolet took over the company c1879.
Stauffer & Co sourced watches and movements from different sources including the highly regarded International Watch Company (IWC). These watches were stamped with the "S&Co" mark below a crown and also stamped "Peerless".
The movement serial number has been confirmed to have been supplied by IWC, the International Watch Company, Schaffhausen and dates from c1910. The movement is also stamped with the Swiss Cross alongside a Swiss patent number. This patent was granted to IWC.
The good quality 18CT Gold case is in excellent condition. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "CN" for Charles Nicolet, the "crown" and "18" for 18 carat gold, the London town import mark and date letter "q" for 1911/12. It also has the case serial number 516487. the inner cuvette similarly hallmarked. The crown and bow ring also hallmarked for 18 carat gold.
Adding to the interest, the inner cuvette has the original owner's name engraved "Ibbetson Lumb" and there is initials engraved to the rear cover (see photos).
The very good quality, Swiss made, jewelled, lever movement is in excellent condition and good working order. It is stem wound and pin set - the time being set by turning the winding crown whilst depressing the small pin located on the case side band at eleven o'clock. The movement is signed with the "S&Co" mark below a crown, within an oval, also stamped "Peerless" below the serial number and "Swiss" for Swiss made.
The white enamel dial is in good condition. It has the hours in gold Roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock.
The watch measures approximately 46 mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring). The weight is 78.9g.
