An unusual 18th Century carved and painted oak side chair. Possibly Dutch,this superb chair is raised on twist turned legs, with traces of the original paint, terminating in sturdy block feet. The back has angular finials, which retain the original paint, a dentil cresting rail and wonderful carved back panel with central military figure within a laurel wreath flanked by decorative fish and fruit baskets. The chair has peg joints and is solid and stands well. The chair has a wonderful colour and patina. This rare antique side chair would make an impact in any interior.
