1920s 2 Door Brass Framed Shop Display Cabinet

CODE 0308
DESCRIPTION:
This is an exceptionally high-quality two-door shop display cabinet, dating from approx 1920s, and manufactured by Pollards Store fitter, London, Paris & Brussels. The remarkable craftsmanship of the cabinet attests to this. The inner back and base feature a quarter-sawn walnut veneer with a beautifully aged and patinated colour. The frame is constructed entirely of solid brass, with an inset, reverse-painted Fairfax of Bond St signage plaque. The top of the cabinet includes mirrored panels on either side.
The handles, which also serve as keys, can be removed to secure the cabinet. Both locks are fully functional. Inside, there are two adjustable glass shelves mounted on brass and cast brackets. The cabinet is fitted for lighting however, the existing cable will need to be removed. Should you wish to illuminate the cabinet, it will require rewiring by a licensed and certified electrician.
This rare and elegant display cabinet exhibits some signs of age and use, including minor discolouration of the brass. We have chosen not to polish the brass, as the market prefers the original patina. The Fairfax signage plaque also shows some age-related wear and peeling, which we have opted to leave as is, understanding the market's preference for authenticity.
DIMENSIONS:
H143mm W1170mm D340mm
Shelf D275mm
WORKSHOP REPORT:
The brass on this cabinet has not been polished, maintaining its original patina, as the market does not favour the polished look. The Fairfax signage plaque shows some peeling and cracks in the paint due to the age of the piece. This could be cleaned off if desired, but it is often preferred to leave it as is to retain the signs of wear.
