1930s Vintage Wake and Dean Twin Pedestal Oak Desk Wake Dean Oak Desk %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Wake & Dean made good quality pieces for commercial and government offices until around 1950. This one is an early and lesser seen Wake & Dean piece having the little metal makers sign to one side which is a nice touch and has an interesting and useful drawer and cupboard combination. A London find surviving in the kind of condition that is about perfect, genuine wear in the right places with original brassware in place.

Workshop report - The desk sits in good order – the oak panelled frame is solid and firm with no wobbles. We have carefully cleaned and gently repolished the desk to bring out the colour and grain of the oak. The drawers are working well with a light waxing to the runners by us. The cupboard does close as it should and has a half shelf inside - this could be removed if you wish. We have cleaned and vacuumed the drawers and cupboard, historic ink marks remain. The top has genuine marks and wear but nothing new or nasty. The desk smells fine.

A handsome looking English oak desk, early 1930s by Wake & Dean Ltd
